Spiritual Benefits of Prayer

Allah always listens to us when we pray. Daily prayer can bless you, your family, and those you pray for. It can also invite more peace into your life, help you learn more about God’s plan for you, and more. Allah answers our prayers in the form of thoughts, spiritual feelings, scripture, or even the actions of other people. God will help you understand why you are here and what you can do to return to live with Him after this life. Allah says:

“Establish regular prayers – at the sun’s decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony.” (Surah Al-Isra, 17:78)

Prayer is one of the leading pastimes in self-reflection and gratitude. The purpose of the prayer is not just to fulfil an empty ritual. For the prayer to be acceptable, it must be done with passion. A very important ingredient of the prayer is the state of calmness and tranquillity coupled with humility achieved by deep concentration. The prayer is relaxing and will help regain lost focus in life. The prayer is healing for the soul. Allah says:

“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give Zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:277 )
