Live A Happy Life

A happy life is a series of never-ending satisfaction that only grows more powerful as time goes on. A happy life is based on the compassionate deeds you perform, the personal goals you strive to achieve, and the legacy you decide to leave behind as a result of the mark you made on the world around you. Real happiness comes from the soul, if you are satisfied within then you will be happy with the outside world as well. Allah says:

“Then as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, so they in a Garden will be delighted.” (Surah Ar-Rum 30:15)

A happy life can be a beautiful journey, a crazy ride, and a big adventure. We need to make it in order to see this world for the wonderful place it is, full of opportunities, kindness, and love. We tend to overthink every little detail of our days. We think life is unfair when something bad happens. We keep asking ”why” when someone leaves us. We fail and give up. No one succeeds from scratch. Allah says:

“Our Lord, give us goodness in this life and goodness in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Hellfire.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201)

Eliminate the people in your life that only burden you with negativity, because you don’t need them. Shorten your to-do list by focusing on the essential things you have to do and ditch everything else that only keeps you busy. By cutting back on areas where you can create space for your passions, and the important people in your life. Ultimately, you’ll find that you don’t miss most of that extra stuff. Allah says:

“The day will surely come when each soul will be confronted with whatever good or evil it has done. As for its evil deeds. it will wish they were a long way off.” (Surah Al ‘Imran 3:30)

Grateful people live great lives, they are thankful each day for what they have and are so much happier because they focus on the people they love, the opportunities that are everywhere around them, the things they enjoy doing, the time they have, the place they live in, and the friends that surround them. Being grateful doesn’t mean being happy all the time. It simply means that you can recognize that things will get better during hard times.

  • Let Go of Wanting to be in Control: Truly trusting your affairs to Allah Al-Wakeel means you do your bit and trust He will give you the best result. So get rid of the self-defeating mindset.
  • Let Go of Complaining: Positive thinking is extremely powerful, making you feel honourable in a situation can only make you sad if you allow it to.
  • Let Go of Always Wanting to be Right: Never always want to be right, even if it ends up in an argument. Belief and good deeds make you the best of creatures.
  • Let Go of Criticizing Others: our true intention should be for the sake of Allah. Make things easy for the people, and do not make it difficult for them.
  • Let Go of Low Self-esteem: A low self-image can really stand in the way of you taking action and bettering the world and yourself with the skills Allah gave you.
  • Let Go of Blaming Others: Stop putting your moods and happiness in the hands of others and take responsibility yourself.
  • Let Go of Impressing Others: Don’t be someone you are not. Impressing others brings stress, impressing Allah makes you happy and safe in the next life.
  • Let Go of Attachment: Without realizing it we attach ourselves to this world too much, to its people, to its belongings and to its places. Pleasing Allah is easy, pleasing people is hard.
  • Let Go of the Past: Tell yourself that the time to be happy is now. Everything happened for a reason. Live in the present.
  • Let Go of Your Excuses: Most people who fail are the ones who have a habit of making excuses. Your excuses are standing in the way of your own happiness.
  • Let Go of Your Fears: Fear is just an illusion. When you let go of your fears and only fear Allah, you will feel much happier.
  • Let Go of Living up to Others’ Expectations: Fearing other people’s opinions is something that truly stands in the way of our happiness.

Allah asserts that if someone is grateful, then He will increase the favour, despite it is contrary. One of the first factors in feeling happy in life is to be healthy. Many of us don’t even think about this blessing. When we lose it or find our physical strength not to be as before, then we realize how precious it was. Islam recommends we take care of our bodily health. Allah says:

“Whoever disbelieves, then against him (is) his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness, then for themselves they are preparing,” (Surah Ar-Rum 30:44)

We often put much expectation on others in many aspects of our lives such as career, wealth, success, and happiness. If all that has not been fulfilled, it is not even the happiness that we have, but also the disappointment. Many relationships are broken because it is very not suitable with our expectations. Allah says:

“For Him (is the) dominion (of) the heavens and the earth, He gives life and causes death, and He (is) over all things All-Powerful.” (Surah Al-Hadid 57:2)

Happiness is not only when you reach success, wealth and better social standing. It comes from our soul, you have already been satisfied with what you have. We must be grateful for the blessings that Allah has given us to any number. Humans who are never grateful, basically, humans have the nature of dissatisfaction if they have not got what they want. Allah says:

“They are those who spend in charity during ease and hardship and who restrain their anger and pardon the people, for Allah loves the doers of good.” (Surah Al Imran 3:134)

Quran is not only the revelation from Allah. The Quran contains beautiful words and rhythms which when recited will give peace, both to the reader and the hearer. If you are already frustrated and have a lot of thoughts, it is better to read the Quran, because it will give peace to those who read it. The key to being happy in this world and the next is seeking the pleasure of God.
