Kindness is the moment of reflection

Trust and Reliance on Allah

Trust and relying on Allah is one of the greatest forms of worship.  It is internal worship residing within the heart.  It is also one of the causes of attaining the love of Allah. The level of trust in Allah varies from one person to another. Trust in Allah in its complete form occurs due to the believers’ “contentment with Him, their faith in Him, they’re being pleased with Him and they’re seeking their needs from Him. Allah loves those who put their trust in Him. Allah says:

“If Allah helps you, then not (can) overcome [for] you, and if He forsakes you, then who (is) the one who can help you after Him? And on Allah – let the believers put (their).” (Surah Al-Imran 3:160)

The true believers realize that nothing happens except with the Will of Allah and that He never Wills anything except that it has wisdom behind it. They know that only Allah alone is in control at all times. What a believer should do is to behave as Allah wants him to: fulfilling his responsibilities but waiting to see the result, believing that it has already been planned by Allah. Allah says:

“Those to whom the people said: Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them. But it only increased them in faith, and they said: Sufficient for us is Allah and He is an excellent guardian.” (Surah Al Imran 3:173)

Reliance on Allah is counting on Allah knowing that everything on the earth takes place under Allah’s control and that no one can help or harm the individual unless He so wills. Allah has promised good in this life and the next towards those who put their trust in Him, the true believers never lose hope in Him and are always satisfied with His decision of their affairs. Invest your efforts in the journey but let go of your attachment to the outcome. You plant the seed and let Allah grow the tree. Allah says:

Say, “He (is) the Most Gracious; we believe in Him, and upon Him, we put (our) trust. So you will know who (is) it (that is) in error clear.” (Surah Al-Mulk 67:29)

Reliance on Allah means entrusting one’s affairs to Allah and relying on Him in all matters. Entrusting one’s affairs to Allah entails not turning to something or someone else for support. Relying upon Allah is from the actions of the heart – so it is an act of worship of the heart. The keys of the Heavens and the Earth are in His Hand, so we must put our trust and reliance on Him.

Here are some reasons to put our trust in Allah and depend on Him:

  1. Reliance on Allah and realize He can right all of our affairs
  2. Reliance on Allah means all things are in Allah’s hands
  3. Reliance on Allah turn lead to goodness in this world

  19. Reliance on Allah will be going to be an end by His Mercy
  20. Reliance on Allah has decided to make all matters proceed

Dua is the single, most- powerful tool that transforms life from living misery to blissful happiness. If you want to strengthen your trust in Allah, you need to be confiding in Him. Confiding in Him to such an extent that you pour your heart in your Duas. The believers defied their so-called logic and placed their trust in Allah. When they saw the storms of danger gathering, they remembered Allah’s promise. Allah says:

“Wealth and children are the only adornments of the worldly life, but enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for one’s hope.” (Surah Al-Kahf 18:46)

Tell Allah everything as you do with your best friend. Share your fears, your worries, your dreams, your goals, your passions and anything else that matters to you. When you express your vulnerability to Allah, you begin to develop this unwavering conviction, that no matter what happens, Allah will be enough for you. Allah says:

“When you have made the decision, then rely upon Allah. Verily, Allah loves those who trust Him.” (Surat Ali Imran 3:159)

Allah has created this universe on a cause and effect relationship whereby to have something happen, something else must have happened before it. One would be foolish to sit in one spot and claim that he puts his trust in Allah. Building a relationship with the Quran begins with reading it frequently and branches out to developing multiple ways of connection.

And in many verses of the Quran, Allah constantly emphasizes the believers, Allah says:

  • “…So worship Him and rely upon Him.” (Quran 11:123)
  • “And in Allah let the believers put their trust.” (Quran 5:11)
  • “…And upon Allah rely on, if you should be believers.” (Quran 5: 23)
  • “Remember two of your parties Meditated cowardice, but Allah was their protector, and in Allah should the faithful (Ever) put their trust.” (Surah Al-Imran, 122)
  • “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector”: and on Allah let the Believers put their trust.” (Surah At-Tawba, 51)
  • “And put thy Trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 3)
  • “So put thy Trust in Allah. for thou art on (the path of) manifest Truth.” (Surah An-Name, 79)

Look, all the dua in the world won’t bring about an outcome unless Allah decrees it. All the hard work and productivity in the world won’t guarantee the results you seek unless Allah has destined it for you. To Allah belongs all things in the heavens and the Earth, so set things straight between you and Allah and He will suffice you.  Allah says:

“And (do) not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and disregard their harm, and put your trust in Allah. And sufficient is Allah (as) a Trustee.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:48)

Putting trust in Allah is counting on Allah knowing that everything on the earth takes place under Allah’s control and that no one can help or harm the individual unless He so wills. The believers know that Allah is the Almighty and anything He desires will happen just by His saying “Be!” and they never lose heart in the face of difficulties. Allah says:

“They arise from their beds and they supplicate their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend from what We have provided them.” (Surah As-Sajda 32:16)

Allah has decreed in general everything that will occur until the end of time, but He reserves the right to erase whatever He wills in the specific destinies of people. Our love of Allah is the basis of our worship, and our fear and hope are like two wings that propel us along the straight path toward our final destination. The believers should be aware of this great reality and therefore should never act ignorantly as those who deny it. Allah says:

“And put your trust in Allah. And Allah is sufficient (as) Disposer of affairs.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:3)

Relying on Allah can instil an enormous amount of peace and contentment in a person, and we ask Allah that He helps us all attain the highest degree of Tawakkul, and in the eternal world of the Hereafter. The believers find complete peace of mind in His promise of sufficiency, and thus their worry and anxiety are dispelled; hardship is turned to ease and sadness into joy. Even if things do not go according to plan, we know that Allah will give us something better.
