It is a truth universally acknowledged that one day this world will come to an end and all will turn into ash and dust. This life of luxury that we lead today is only momentary compared to the one that awaits us in the Hereafter. Yet we continue to race against time in the false hopes of finding the utmost happiness and satisfaction. Allah says:
“And this (is) a Book We have revealed it – blessed, so follow it and consciously revere (Allah) so that you may receive mercy.” (Surah Al-An`am 6:155)
Before moving on to the way Muslims learn Quran these days, it is imperative that one realizes the importance of learning the Quran. Therefore, learning of the Quran is one of the rudimentary Islamic learning initiatives that Muslims take across the world. Allah says:
“All Praise (is) for Allah the One Who (has) revealed to His slave the Book, and not (has) made in it any crookedness.” (Surah Al-Kahf 18:1)
The world we live in at present strives for momentary gratification and contentment. With the progression of time, we forget the reason behind that momentary satisfaction and go back to brooding in our own misery. Allah says:
“Indeed, those who denied Our Verses and (were) arrogant towards them, (will) not be opened for them (the) doors (of) the heaven, and not they will enter Paradise until passes the camel/the course thread through (the) eye (of) the needle. And thus We recompense the criminals.” (Surah Al-A`raf 7:40)
Many amongst us live under the delusion that wealth and prosperity can compensate for the emptiness inside us, but at the end of the day, there is nothing but darkness and despair ahead. Only those amongst us who are close to Allah (SWT) can attain inner peace and satisfaction because of their unwavering faith. Allah says:
And said the Messenger, “O my Lord! Indeed, my people took this the Quran (as) a forsaken thing.” (Surah Al-Furqan 25:30)
The Constant State of Oblivion because of Satan’s Distractions
Satan vowed to become man’s worst enemy since the day he got shunned. He works tirelessly to lead a man astray and keep him engaged in worldly distractions. The Quran speaks about Satan’s motive to distract a person from the right path. The Quran commands, Despite the world, at our fingertips, one always feels dissatisfied. Allah says:
Indeed, worst (of) the living creatures near Allah (are) the deaf, the dumb – those who (do) not use (their) intellect.” (Surah Al-Anfal 8:22)
The new clothes one purchases lose their novelty, the money in accounts reaches zero, the new beautiful phases of one’s life fade away, the jubilation turns into despair and vanity lasts forever. The world is not a perfect place of satisfaction because a day will come when every worldly lavishness and attraction will perish into dust and ashes. Allah says:
O you who believe[d]! Consciously revere Allah (as is His) right (that) He (should) be revered and (do) not die except [while you] (as) those-who-submit/Muslims.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:102)
We, humans, are on a whim that just one more day and we will be close to our happiness but the Islamic narratives have refuted this argument with the counter authentic rationale that states. The time we live in is the time of instant satisfaction and instant gratification, once the reason rusts off the satisfaction becomes a gone story. Allah, the one who creates knows the source of happiness and has revealed it in His book of divinity. Allah says:
“So we intended that would change for them their Lord, a better than him (in) purity and nearer (in) affection.” (Surah Al-Kahf 18:81)
Achieving Inner Comfort
Inner peace and comfort are directly associated with dhikr. The more time one spends in the remembrance of Allah, the stronger his connection to the Almighty and the more content in his heart. The world is full of death, destruction, and depression. Allah commands us to perform Salah and repent for our past sins for Allah is the Most Merciful.
Allah’s Acceptance in our Hearts
For a true Muslim, wealth means satisfaction of the heart. Accepting the reality of this world and faith in Allah’s commandments are what will distinguish a believer from a non-believer.
Recitation of the Quran; the Ultimate Cure for Ailment
Recitation of the Holy Quran calms the heart and alleviates anxiety.
“Quran is a remedy for Illnesses of the mind.” (Bukhari)
The Quran cleanses the mind of impure thoughts and sets the course for the path to righteousness. Allah created humans and He created the Holy Quran. It is only fitting that only the word of Allah can comfort the heart of His creation. Allah says:
“That (is) because Allah is not One Who changes a favour which He had bestowed on a people until they change what (is) in themselves. And indeed, Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Surah Al-Anfal 8:53)
Humans keep their happiness at stake befalling in the delusion that worldly opulent will soothe their heart but at the end of the day for them, there lies no flickering light at the end of the tunnel. Only the devoted people, having firm faith in Allah and are cognizant of God’s mercy can attain the level of peace and inner satisfaction.
True Momin is Who Seeks Light of Quran
Momin is the person who declares his faith upon one lord under the pursuit of Shahada and accepts what is quoted in the Quran without any argumentation. Quran has a clear concept regarding it as Allah says:
“Hold (to) forgiveness and enjoin the good, and turn away from the ignorant.” (Surah Al-A`raf 7:199)
Momin is those who willingly handed their matters to Allah and have firm faith in His decision without denying minor or major command. Quran is undoubtedly booking of guidance and beacon of Hidayah but the question looms who are those who want to seek Hidayah and want to be among the granted ones? The question is easy if one scrutinizes the teachings with an open heart and mind. Allah says:
“Alif Laam Ra. A Book which We have revealed to you, so that you may bring out the mankind from the darkness[es] to the light by the permission (of) their Lord, to the Path (of) the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy.” (Surah Ibrahim 14:1)
Allah has opened the portals of the human mind towards every sign in the universe that is why He has emphasized and asked the followers to consider these signs in the creation of the universe, sun, moon, life, and death. While those who are ignorant will remain ignorant and are deaf to Allah’s verses and will never embrace Islam. Allah says:
“Indeed, those who conceal what We revealed of the clear proofs, and the Guidance, from after [what] We made clear to the people in the Book – those, curses them Allah and curse them the ones who curse.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 159)
