Allah has created everything in this world

Signs of Allah

The signs of Allah’s existence are evident in every aspect of our lives. Because these signs are so numerous, they are sometimes easy to take for granted. We should look around us and reflect upon the creation and its purpose. Everything in the universe that has a beginning must have a cause. The universe began to exist. Allah Says:

“This (is) a Message for the mankind, that they may be warned with it, and that they may know that only He (is) One God, and that may take heed men (of) understanding.” (Surah Ibrahim 14:52)

Allah created the order of the universe in superb detail to allow a man to grasp His greatness. Faced with the sublimity of the details of this order, man becomes in awe, recognizing that Allah’s wisdom, knowledge, and might is infinite. Every event that has taken place since the creation of time, until deep into eternity, was predetermined and ended in Allah’s Sight. Allah says:

“O mankind! Remember (the) Favor (of), Allah, upon you. Is (there) any creator other (than) Allah who provides for you from the sky and the earth? (There is) no god but He. Then, how (are) you deluded?” (Surah Fatir 35:3)

Allah is the personal name of the One true God. Nothing else can be called Allah. Everything in the heavens and the Earth belongs to Him. If you thank Allah, He gives you more. It is not because we deserve more, it is because Allah is that Great. He is that Generous. We do not have a cruel God; our God is the Most Merciful of those who show Mercy.

Allah has created everything in this world with a purpose and reason. Sometimes it is apparent to us and sometimes it is not apparent. The knowledge wherein many secrets of other worlds have been disclosed by the Creator and Sustainer of every creature, as well as the knowledge that derives its authority and orientation from the revealed word. Allah says:

“Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Verily, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, but the remembrance of Allah is greater.” (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:45)

The entire universe worships its Creator with paramount joy and pride, with neither fatigue nor boredom ever befalling it. This is a truth that humans, owing to their restricted aptitude, will never be able to comprehend. Man must seek to appreciate the extent of Allah’s knowledge, and reflect to comprehend His greatness.

Islam guides mankind to see signs of Allah, and Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:

  • “Allah is the doer of all that He intends.” (Quran 85:16)
  • “Allah is never unjust In the least degree.” (Quran 4:40)
  • “There is nothing whatever like unto Him.” (Quran 42:11)
  • “Remember Allah often that you may succeed.” (Al-Jumuah 62:10)
  • “Deaf, dumb, and blind, They will not return (to the path).” (Quran 2:18)
  • “And on the earth are signs (ayat) for the certain (in faith).” (Quran 51: 20)
  • “Allah – there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names.” (Quran 20:8)
  • “Indeed, in the heavens and the earth surely (are) Signs for the believers.” (Jathiyah 45:3)

Despite all the knowledge that science, geography, and other disciplines provide mankind, there is a wealth of knowledge that remains untapped, only to be known by Allah.  Allah says:

“This (is the) creation (of) Allah. So show Me what have created those besides Him. Nay, the wrongdoers (are) in error clear.” (Surah Luqman 31:11)

Allah also possesses the power to create many other things beyond our limited imagination. The entire extent of the treasures Allah has bestowed in this world for His servants is all within His Sight. He sends down to us only that which He wills, all within a measure predetermined.

Allah’s Signs in the Universe:

  • Signs of Allah’s existence: Allah mentions that all the created objects, celestial and terrestrial, are His obedient servants. All nature bears witness to Allah’s oneness, power, wisdom and goodness.
  • Signs of Allah’s wisdom: Every human being is a microcosmos also permeated with the signs of Allah, just like everything else.
  • Signs of Allah’s knowledge: It is proven in the history of Islamic civilization, this is best done when the Noble Qur’an is wielded in the one hand and the power of reason in the other.
  • Signs of Allah’s power: The world as an independent entity, thus, is a sign itself pointing to the existence of its Creator and the oneness of His Being.
  • Signs of Allah’s mercy: Allah is known to Muslims as the Most Merciful Being, it is only because of His mercy that even when we commit sins, He lets them go and gives us many chances.

Some may say that all of these things happen as a result of nature. The question arises: “What is nature?” The word “nature “is used to describe certain basic behaviour. For example, the nature of an ant is to live in a nest. The nature of a bee is to make honey. Allah Says:

“Is it not (He) Who created the heavens and the earth Able to [that] create (the) like of them. Yes, indeed! and He (is) the Supreme Creator, the All-Knower.” (SurahYa-Sin 36:81)

The nature of a bird is to fly and sing. By the Islamic definition, “nature” characterizes the Signs of Allah. We praise Him for all His signs, which we see in the world around us. Everything around us is a sign of this creation. Allah Says:

“If all the trees on Earth were pens and all the sea, with seven more seas besides, was ink Allah’s words still would not run dry. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.” (Surah Luqman 31:27)

If Muslims knew the real meaning of “Allah is the Greatest”, and, hence, repeated it with their tongue, their hearts were filled with it, and their deeds affirmed it, they would be in a far better position with Allah and other fellow humans. Allah Says:

“He (is) Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner. For Him (are) the names the beautiful. Glorifies Him whatever (is) in the heavens and the earth. And He (is) the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.” (Surah Al-Hashr 59:24)

Thus everything needs a maker or a creator; nothing can come into existence without there being an originator: the creator. Therefore it must be a Creator behind our existence. If so I must know Him. And because He is merciful. He sends messengers to us to inform us about Him. May Allah allow us to heed His signs and be mindful of Him.
