Happiness is the key to satisfy your soul

Islam is a Religion of Peace

Islam is a religion of peace in the complete sense of the word. Every teaching of Islam is based on the principles of peace and avoidance. Throughout history, Muslims should respect others and tried to maintain peace and should follow the straight path. Allah Almighty in the Quran has encouraged the establishment of peace and has told the followers of Islam to be moderate in their behaviour and adopt the qualities of kindness, love, and respect for others. A  Muslim is one from whose hand and tongue people are safe. Allah says:

Say, “O Those who have transgressed against themselves, (do), not despair of (the) Mercy (of) Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives sins all. Indeed He, He (is) the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar 39:53)

Islam is the religion of peace, which means Muslims have been commanded to spread peace on earth. We should spread peace to portray the real image of the religion Islam. Peace is the primary duty of Islam and its adherents must come to show to the world that we are for peace and settlement not for violence and destruction. Allah says:

“And who will turn away from (the) religion (of) Ibrahim except who fooled himself? And indeed We chose him in the world, and indeed he, in, the Hereafter surely (will be) among the righteous.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:130)

The root of the word Islam refers to “making peace, being in a mutually peaceful environment, greetings, rescue, safety, being secure, finding peace, reaching salvation and well being or being far from danger, attaining goodness, comfort, and favour, keeping away from troubles and disasters, submitting the self and obeying, respect, being far from wrong.”A true Muslim should seek to bring others close to him, not to drive them away from him. Allah says:

“Their prayer therein (will be), “Glory be to You, O Allah!” And their greeting therein (will be), “Peace.” And the last (of) their call (will be) [that] “All the Praise be to Allah, Lord (of) the worlds.” (Surah Yunus 10:10)

In Islam, good morals, love, and respect for God and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are expected from believers. Appropriate love, mercy, and compassion are to be shown, not only to people but also to every creature in nature since, according to Islam’s core understanding, every creation is a blessing from God and the protection of a blessing is the most fitting behaviour for a human being. Allah says:

“And if they incline to peace, then you (also) incline to it and put (your) trust in Allah. Indeed, He (is) All-Hearer, All-Knower.” (Surah Al-Anfal 8:61)

The True Peaceful Face of Islam are as follows:

فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُم بُيُوتًا فَسَلِّمُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُمْ تَحِيَّةً مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ مُبَارَكَةً طَيِّبَةً

“When you enter houses, offer greetings of peace upon each other, a greeting from Allah, blessed and good.” (Surat al-Nur 24:59)

Muslims are strictly instructed to follow Allah Almighty’s book of the law. The regard for peace, righteousness, and justice is to be maintained by the Muslims above all else. Therefore, it is crucially important for an individual to believe in Allah with his own will and aspiration, and observe HIS commands through personal meticulous gratification. Allah says:

(Saying), “Peace (be) upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent (is) the final attainment (of) the Home.” (Surah Ar-Ra`d 13:24)

A true Muslim is one who truly follows Islam, someone who is at perfect peace, with himself and with others. The Qur’an emphasizes peace and reconciliation as basic to all social and even international relations. As mentioned in the Quran, Paradise, which is the reward for the pious, is a place of serenity. One of the ninety-nine names of God is Salaam, which means peace. Allah says:

“So turn aside from them and say words of peace, but soon they are going to know.” (Surah Az-Zukhruf 43:89)

Islam is the religion of peace. Over billions of people around the world are followers of Islam. There can be no greater argument supporting Islam as a religion of peace than the name of the religion itself. ‘Islam’ literally means peace, therefore, it seems quite unnatural that a religion that names itself peace can teach or preach something violent or full of aggression.

Islam is a religion of peace in the fullest sense of the word. Allah states the following in verses:

  • “Only the saying, “PeacePeace.(Al-Waqia, 26)
  • “Enter ye here in peace and security.” (Al-Hijr, 46)
  • “Peace.” A word from a Lord Most Merciful.” (Ya-Sin 36:58)
  • “There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.” (Quran: 2;256)
  • “Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life!” (Surah Qaf, 34)
  • “There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security.” (Surah Ad-Dukhan, 55)
  • “Muslims learn from the Quran that God’s objective in creating the human race in different communities was that they should relate to each other peacefully.” (Quran 49:13)
  • “If ye call them to guidance, they will not obey: For you, it is the same whether ye call them or ye hold your peace!” (Al-Araf, 193)
  • “When the Qur’an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy.” (Al-Araf, 204)
  • “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “Why we only Want to make peace!” (Al-Baqara, 11)
  • “To us our deeds, and to you yours; Peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant.” (Al-Qasas, 55)

Every religion in the world teaches peace and harmony. No faith believes in spreading hate among fellow human beings. The concept of ‘peace’ in Islam draws its origins from the Arabic word “Salaam” which means “secured, pacified, or submitted.” Islam believes in spreading the message of peace and harmony by personally greeting every fellow Muslim they meet. Allah says:

“When you are greeted with a greeting, then greet in return with something better or at least return it. Verily, Allah is an accountant over all things.” (Surat al-Nisa 4:86)

Islam teaches peace and harmony above all. Violence and brutal killings have no place in Islam. It is either the misconception about Islam that is prevailing in today’s world that Islam sponsors terrorism or the vested interest of evil forces who wishes to malign the image of Islam. Allah says:

“Verily, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne, arranging the matter.” (Surah Yunus 10:3)

Islam is the religion of peace and an offer of peace to the world. We have been commanded to spread peace on earth, to invoke peace in our prayers, and to end all conflicts in peace. A Muslim is one who is under the peaceful and safe shade of Islam. May Allah grant us guidance in fulfilling this most important duty for the benefit of all humanity.
