Islam is the response to humanity’s search for meaning. The purpose of human life is to put a stop to the cycle of repeated birth and death. There are four real problems in life, namely birth, old age, disease, and death. These problems of life can be solved by understanding the spiritual nature of the self. Allah created man to serve Him, meaning that men should believe in the One Lord and do well. This is the main objective of human life. Believers are those who attain Allah’s best favours both in this world and in the hereafter. Allah says:
“Thus, We have ordained a law (shari’a) upon you in the matter, so follow it and do not follow the whims of those who know not.” (Surah Al-Jathiyah 45:18)
Allah didn’t create anything without purpose everything is created due to some reason and has some purpose in life. While living, humans are going to be continuously tested through numerous trials and tribulations. They will all find their way into humans’ lives. Allah has guided people to the purpose of life that is worshipping Him and seeking His pleasure. The Holy Quran in this regard is one of the best ways of knowing how a person can fulfil this purpose of pleasing Allah. Allah says:
“And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse in the land and seek the bounties of Allah and be grateful to Allah so that you may be successful.” (Surah Al-Jumuah, 10)
In our daily living, our faith imbues all aspects of our outlook on life with hope and trust in God. For Muslims, the purpose of life lies in the Quran. A faithful Muslim believes that the Quran carries a universal truth inside it. To live a life without fussing too much about the purpose of life itself would be simple. The majestic plan of Allah is perfect. Everyone can always worship God directly.

God describes this life as a test, and people are tested in different ways. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we react. The sense of good and evil is inherent in the very nature of man. Patience during adversities and gratitude for blessings is a means of getting closer to God and attaining eternal Paradise. Allah says:
“O, my people! Only this, the life (of) the world, (is) enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter – it (is the) home, (of) settlement.” (Surah Ghafir 40:39)
In Islam, the purpose of life is to worship Allah. The true Muslim sticks to this purpose throughout all the stages of his life, whether he is a child, adolescent, adult, or an old man. Islam is a complete and practical way of life that teaches Muslims to be balanced. Islam is a complete and practical way of life that teaches Muslims to be balanced. Allah says:
“And not (is) this life (of) the world but amusement and play. And indeed, the Home (of) the Hereafter – surely, it (is) the life, if only they know.” (Surah Al-Ankabut: 29:64)
Never forget that everything on the face of the earth is created for a purpose. It is a most definite fact that everything you see around you serves a special purpose. There is also a purpose for which you and the rest of humanity exists. Allah placed man temporarily in this world to test him, He tests us with what we experience in life; the world is merely a testing ground where we can earn the good pleasure of Allah.
Allah Almighty says in The Holy Quran:
- “And the Hereafter is better for you than the first life.” (Ad-Duhaa (93:4)
- “The life of this world is merely the enjoyment of delusion.” (Quran 3:185)
- “I have not created men except that they should serve Me.” (Quran, 51:56).
- “you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial.” (Ash-Shura 42:47)
- “He Who created death and life to test which of you is best in action. He is the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving.” (Surah Al-Mulk: 2)
- “And if you have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and His Messenger.” (Quran 3:31)
- “Remember Me and I will remember you, be grateful to Me and do not be ungrateful.” (Al-Baqarah 2:152)
- “And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.” (Quran 44: 38)
- “Allah urges people to desire hereafter since it is better and longer-lasting.” (Surah Ta-Ha: 131)
The purpose of life is to live and let live. Societal living is possible when there are communal harmony and a feeling of brotherhood among its members. Peaceful coexistence is the key to a successful life. A true Muslim believes in this fact and knows about the momentary nature of worldly life. We should fulfil this purpose of our life by following Allah’s commands given in the Quran. Allah says:
“(The) colour (religion) (of) Allah! And who (is) better than Allah at colouring? And we to Him (are) worshippers.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:138)
Never forget that the world is not the proper place to fulfil their desires. If you truly yearn for the ever-lasting favours, never forget that you must not pursue the life of this world, but seek the hereafter by preparing yourself for it. Allah repeatedly reminds us that this world is flawed so that Allah’s servants can attain a better place in the hereafter. Allah has made clear in the Quran that those who are attached to the brief life of this world will lose eternal life in the hereafter. Allah says:
So high (above all) (is) Allah the King, the True. And (do) not hasten with the Quran before [that] is completed to you its revelation, and say, “My Lord! Increase me (in) knowledge.” (Surah Taha 20:114)
Islam is divine guidance wherein humans of all nations, colours and tongues feel linked to a Supreme Power and Justice. May Allah guide us all to the right path and help us in earning good deeds and may He forgive our past sins. Allah warns people against not being greedily attached to the temporary and alluring joys of this world. Allah creates this life so that believers may be distinguished from the non-believers, and by which they may be purified of evil, and worthy of the reward of Paradise.
