Good deeds are a true witness to the stability of faith in the heart. Rather, it is one of the fruits of faith in Allah the Almighty, in His Messenger, and in the Last Day. A good deed is that which is pleasing to Allah the Almighty, and it combines two things; The first: that it be in accordance with Islamic law, the second: that it be intended to please and obey Allah, so if the deed lacks one or both of these, it is not pleasing to Allah, and therefore there is no reward for it. Allah says:

مَنْ جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْهَا وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَى الَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ.

”Whoever brings good, he shall have better than it, and whoever brings evil, those who do evil shall not be rewarded (for) aught except what they did.” (Surah Qasas 27:84)

God not only counts every good deed a person does, but He also multiplies it and rewards them, worshippers will be reminded today. The good deed is represented in the acts of worship, obedience and obligations that Allah commanded his servants to do, and also represents the reason for their creation and existence on the earth. Good deeds have many forms: helping people, doing charity, and fulfilling the obligation toward God. Those things represent the real image of our religion, Islam, in the most perfect way. Allah says:

وَيَزِيدُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْا هُدًى وَالْبَاقِيَاتُ الصَّالِحَاتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَّرَدًّا

“And Allah increases those who accept guidance, (in) guidance. And the everlasting good deeds (are) better near your Lord (for) reward and better (for) return.” (Surah Maryam 19:76)

Good deeds not only bring us closer to Allah SWT, but it also has many benefits. Quran in itself is a blessing as it cleanses the heart from evil; it solidifies a strong relationship with God.  All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him as befitting to His Sublime Countenance and Supreme Status. To Him all the servants draw nearer by performing good deeds, seeking His forgiveness and satisfaction.

Here are some performing acts of goodness in this life, and how they are generously rewarded by God:

1. Good deeds serve as a divine guard against the trials
2. Good deeds remove the fear of failure in our chores
3. Good deeds  follow up a bad deed with a good one
4. Good deeds activate derive the pleasure of Allah
5. Good deeds encourage goodness and forbid evil
6. Good deeds are the fruit of doing good actions
7. Good deeds set goals based on your definition
8. Good deeds strive for the pleasure of Allah
9. Good deeds avoid that which is wrong
10. Good deeds control worldly desires
11. Good deeds indulge in all sorts of vices
12. Good deeds to obtain blessings of Allah
13. Good deeds remove the fear of enraging
14. Good deeds are always better to make note
15. Good deeds find inspiration and motivation
16. Good deeds keep away from lying and deceit
17. Good deeds Seek the companionship of others
18. Good deeds mean to cleanse or purify the heart 
19. Good deeds practising towards worship of Allah
20. Good deeds create habits surrounding your goals

If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write for him a full good deed (in his account with Him); and if he intends to do a good deed and actually did it, then Allah will write for him (in his account) with Him (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times to many more times. Moreover, God multiplies the rewards of spending for charity. Allah says:

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى. وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى. فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى.

”Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), and accepts the best. We will facilitate for him the east end.” (Surah Layl 92:5-7)

A believer full of good deeds will utilize all of his or her knowledge and strength to continuously help others. When a person knows that, they will be encouraged to perform more good, says the sermon. And when they are aware of God’s observance for their every move, they will be deterred from committing unrighteous acts. God also multiplies the rewards of every letter one recites from the Holy Quran.

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran, a believer’s good deeds:

• “Lower your voice and talk moderately.” (Quran 31:19)
• “Don’t let hatred cause you to be unjust.” (Quran 6:108)
• “Don’t ask too many favours from people.” (Quran 2:273)
• “..If you are thankful, I will give you more ..” (Quran 14:7)
• “And Allah does not guide the wrongdoers.” (Quran 3:86)
• “And establish worship for My Remembrance.” (Quran 20:14)
• “Preach to others in a good and wise manner.” (Quran 16:125)
• “Whosoever does a good deed, it is for his self…’‘ (Quran 45:15)
• “And worship your Lord and do good – that you may succeed.” (Al-Hajj: 77)
• “Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].” (Al-Maida: 27)
•  “Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.” (Al-Maida: 9)

Performing good deeds is the believer’s way of proving the purification of his heart to God. It is inexcusable for a person to insist that he or she is a good person but engages in activities that are explicitly prohibited in the Quran. Every verse of the Quran is a pearl and that pearl is unique in every aspect. Performing good deeds should also be for the sake of Allah; it’s not to demonstrate some air of superiority in one’s relation to others or for worldly recognition. Allah says:

وَاتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِن كِتَابِ رَبِّكَ لَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَن تَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا

”And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book (of) your Lord. None can change His Words and never you will find besides Him a refuge.” (Surah Kahf 18: 27)

Quran is the word of God, therefore, whenever there is guidance required, Muslims rely on it and consider it the ultimate Guide that would show them the right path and resolve their dilemma. The reason why Muslims no longer enjoy the glory in the world that they used to do is the fact that they have limited the use of the Quran as a means of recitation for reward only and have left pondering over its meanings.

A Muslim must do every day to ensure a better and happier life:

• Reading and reciting the Quran: Reading the Quran will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a tenfold reward. So reciting Quran daily helps us to understand the words of Allah with great rewards daily.
• Praying In Mosque: The benefit of going to the mosque to offer prayer in the congregation is clear. Muslims meet in congregation five times a day.
• Helping Others: Islam is a great proponent of people making the lives of each other easier. It commands its followers to work towards making the lives of other people easier.
• Ask for Forgiveness Every day: In our daily life routine, we commit sins willingly or unwillingly which leads to Allah’s displeasure at times. At the end of the day, the best practice is to ask for Allah’s forgiveness and to ask for protection from Satan.
• Remembrance of Death: One thing which might be useful in achieving a heart’s presence is -the remembrance of death.
• Strengthening of Faith: Man’s attention toward God-Almighty depends in proportion on his knowledge and enlightenment relative to Him.
• Live in a real-life: Good deeds find points that have no relevance to real life and always thank Allah for everything.
• Be Thankful to Allah: The purpose of human creation is to worship Allah and be thankful to Him for what He has commenced upon us. Thanking Allah is a simple way to worship the Exalted Lord.

Therefore, good deeds vary and include all that Allah the Almighty has commanded in terms of obligatory and desirable acts of worship. If a Muslim performs them in obedience to his Lord and submission to His law, seeking Allah’s face with it, he is from the people of righteous deeds. The utmost part of righteous deeds is worship which is its main principle. Allah says:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

“And those who strive for Us, We will surely, guide them (to) Our ways. And indeed, Allah surely (is) with the good-doers.” (Surah Al-Ankabut, 29:69)

Making dua to your own self is important so that Allah would bless every one of the good deeds you do and make you persistent in doing it. May Allah guide us all to obey Him and obey His Messenger Muhammad PBUH and obey those He has commanded us to obey in line with His orders: May Allah direct us all to the blessings of the Glorious Quran and the Sunnah of His Messenger PBUH.
