Dua for asking Allah to make you a righteous person

Dua in Islamic Teachings

Dua is a means of keeping in touch with Allah and due to Dua, we get closer to our Lord. So, Dua is a source of keeping the supplicant closer to the Almighty Allah.  Duniya is full of temptations and Haram things, and Satan is free, violating our soules. Dua must be addressed to Almighty Allah Alone, who has no partner. Our intention when making the Dua must be to please Allah, obey and trust Him completely. When we make Dua we feel relieved after describing our difficulties to our Creator. Allah says:

“And your Lord says, Call on Me; I will answer your (prayer). But those who are too arrogant to worship Me will surely find themselves in Hell, in humiliation.” (Surah Ghafir 40:60)

Dua is direct communication with Allah. And Allah is multilingual. He actually created and knows all languages. Allah also knows what’s hidden in the deep recesses of our hearts. Those feelings of pain, anguish, resentment, love, hatred, bitterness, longing, etc. that we so successfully hide from everyone else, including our closest family members and friends. Allah says:

“My Lord! Expand for me my chest and ease for me my task and untie (the) knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech.” (Surah Taha, 20:25-28)

Dua is the conversation with Allah, our Creator, the All-Knowing, and the All-Powerful. This act of making Dua in itself is of exceptional significance. It is the most, liberating, empowering, and transforming conversation a person can ever have with his Lord. We raise our hands in front of Allah and asked Him everything His help, mercy, and forgiveness and He surely listens to us and fulfils our desires.

Dua is a form of worship, in fact, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) said it as the best form of worship. When we make Dua in front of Allah for our needs and wants not only our Dua is being answered but we will be rewarded for worshipping also. While making Dua we accept the power and authority of Allah and our weakness in front of Him. With Dua we can never fail; without it, we can never succeed. A person can never become arrogant or proud when he makes Dua; it is a logical result of true worship. Allah says:

“When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:186)

Dua is the belief of all Muslims that Allah is the sole purveyor and creator of all things on earth. We should do Dua at all times, not just during times of distress. Thus, through Dua, we also thank Allah for all that He has given us, be it our heart rate, our breath, our health or our wealth, all these things are provided by Allah. Allah listens to each Dua done in front of Him and responds to all Duas. Allah says:

“O you who believe[d]! Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah (is) with the patient ones.” (Quran, 2:153)

In every difficulty, our first action is dua, as is our last. We ask Allah to show us the way to handle that difficulty; we seek His help in following the path He shows to us; we seek His aid in making our efforts successful. By making Dua we get through the difficult situation that is the power of Dua. We ask guidance from ALLAH at the time of difficulty to show us the way to face this hurdle. Allah says:

“And for Allah (are) the names – the most beautiful, so invoke Him by them. And leave those who deviate concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they used to do.” (Surah Al-A`raf 7:180)

In this era, we are surrounded by dirt like vulgarity and nudity and interest. And somehow all of us are the victims of these dirty things, asking Allah to make you pure will help you eradicate the useless thoughts coming in your head. Earning Jannah is not an easy task, continuously asking Allah to make you among the righteous person as well as making an effort to be a better person can make all of this happen. Allah says:

“When retreated the youths to the cave, and they said, “Our Lord! Grant us from Yourself Mercy, and facilitate for us [from] our affair (in the) right way.” (Surah Al-Kahf 18:10 )

All of us are hasty in making a decision or doing any work, we do not have patience, while Allah loves the Patient People as the verse in Quran goes “Allah is with the people who do Sabr” All Muslims believe that all of us have to die and we will be gathering on the Day of Judgment in front of Allah with all the Good and bad deeds we have done in life.
